Skin Woes + Sea Salt Scrub

I have been having problems with my skin lately. Because of this have decided to add sea salt to my routine and actually follow my routine.

In this post, I will talk about what is up with my skin and what my routine will be for it.

My recent skin issues

Zits galore on my face!

It is really not that bad but there has been definite increase of them lately. I think this is due in part to me not following any routine at all. The texture on my facial skin has been looking and feeling pretty bad too. Very rough.

Another problem I am dealing with is rough/bumpy skin on my chest, shoulders and upper back. My daily use of a body wash for this kind of skin problem is not working at all unfortunately.

New routine

Well, it is not really new. It is what I was supposed to be doing before with a the addition of a sea salt scrub.

The following is what my morning and evening routine will be for my face:

Morning- Cleanse, vitamin C serum (TruSkin Vitamin C Serum), diluted rosemary oil on my eyebrow areas and sunscreen throughout the day.

Evening- Cleanse, retinol lotion (Belei Retinol Refining Moisturizer) and rosemary oil on my eyebrow areas.

Two times a week- Sea salt (mixed with pumpkin oil) scrub on my face and body.

Why sea salt for my skin?

My main reason for starting to add a sea salt scrub into my skin care routine is for the texture problems I have. I am hoping that the exfoliation it can provide will smooth everything out.

Sea salt is said to have other benefits aside from being a great exfoliant. These are as follows:

  1. Antimicrobial effects- May fight bad bacteria that causes acne.
  2. Provides minerals to the skin- Sea salt has minerals such as magnesium that is great for improving the appearance and hydration of the skin.
  3. Provides more circulation- This improves the appearance of the skin.
  4. Balances oil production.
  5. Opens up pores.

Another good thing about using a sea salt scrub is that it will last a long time without going bad.

Why pumpkin oil to mix with?

I will be mixing the sea salt with pumpkin oil to add a little moisturizing power to it. The other reasons I chose this oil are as follows:

  1. It has zinc in it which can help fight acne.
  2. It contains antioxidants which can improve the condition of the skin.
  3. It will not add any greasiness to the skin.
  4. It may help firm the skin due to its vitamin C content.

This oil has been great for my hair. I hope it will be great for my skin too!

My routine is nothing fancy

I am unable to afford a lot of things right now so this routine is the best I can do. In the near future, I want to start doing chemical peels from Makeup Artist’s Choice and using serums that will help fade my hyperpigmentation.

I plan on updating this blog on how the sea salt scrub worked for me.

What issues are you having with your skin right now?
