Perfect Lower Carb Snack Options

Perfect Lower Carb Snack Options

When a person switches over to a diet with a reduced amount of carbs, they may feel as though their snack options are limited. Fortunately, there are some good lower carb choices out there.

Here are some ideas!

Lower carb snack options

Zucchini wraps-

Zucchini is just great in general on a low carb diet. You can slice it thinly and put in a tuna/mayonnaise filling- like what is show in the above picture.

Coffee and cream-

If you are a coffee drinker, consider having some with heavy cream in it! It can give you energy all while filling you up.

Parmesan crisps-

These are close to crackers! Some might find them too pungent though. There are cheese crisps that come in different flavors/cheese types that may be more mild than these parmesan ones.

Lunch meat, pepperoni slices and cheese-

These three things or a combination of them are great choices for a snack. A lot of people may eat them with crackers and/or bread for a sandwich- just skip those for a lower carb option!

Lower carb pudding-

Mixing together sugar-free pudding and two cups of heavy whipping cream gives you a decadent, lower carb treat. It is great for a snack and/or dessert.

Bacon-

Um… why not?

A handful of nuts-

Nuts provide good fats and nutrients all while being lower in carbs than other snacks. Combining a handful of nuts with something else (i.e. a cheese stick), can make for a great and filling snack!

There are more options out there!

Watching carbs is an adjustment at first because there are so many carb laden foods out there. Once you look more into this way of eating, you will find that you do not need to feel deprived. There are delicious and filling options available to turn watching carbs into a long term thing.

The foods pictured in this post are just some of my go-to snacks. My absolute favorite snacks right now are sea salted cashews and cheese.

My Flexmaster Stepper/ Home Gym Wants/ Another Yummy Meal

My Flexmaster Stepper/ Home Gym Wants/ Another Yummy Meal

I love having a home gym. It is certainly not as great as an actual workout center or a home gym of someone who has a lot more money than I do. The good thing is that I can still get great workouts in!

My stepper

dav

I bought this Flexmaster brand stepper a while back because I wanted something compact and inexpensive that I could use for cardio. While it is not bad, the cardio workout you can get with it is not that great.  For only $60 I guess you can not expect it to be as good as a regular stair master/stepper!

I think it is great for a warm up before any kind of a workout or a cool down. It is also good for getting some movement in if you have a desk job and have been sitting too long.

What I would really like to add in my home gym

I am currently happy with the things I have in my home gym but I would like to add more things in the future. Here are the items that I have been thinking about:

  1. Resistance band set (like this:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GCA4BJC/ref=psdc_3407931_t3_7245456313)- I have one resistant band and it would be nice to have more so I could have a complete workout routine.
  2. Folding treadmill- I want one that does not take up much space or cost a ton. Being able to do HIIT this way would be awesome!
  3. PowerBlock Elite Adjustable Dumbbells- I have the PowerBlock Classic 50 dumbbells but I guess I will need more weight sometime soon. Unfortunately there is no expansion weight kit to add on to it so I will have to buy a whole new set that allows for more weight. I feel like adjustable dumbbells like these are a must for home gyms unless you can afford and have room for the racks of weights that are at workout centers.
  4.  Inspirational wall decals- Decorations can really do a lot for a person’s attitude so I  figured it would be nice to have one up in my gym!

Easy low carb meal

A while ago I put a picture on a post that was of an easy sausage and peppers crock pot meal (see here: Life Check In and a Yummy Low Carb Meal). I wanted to make it again but instead of sausage, I used 1.5 pounds of meatballs. Here is what it looked like:

I apologize for the bad photo again. Trust me, this is really good!

So, what do you have for home gym equipment?

Things have been going great with my diet and exercise plan.  I still have not weighed myself and I really do not care to. When I look in the mirror I see a healthy person and that is all that matters.

I feel like my pants are fitting a little looser which is good. Also, my stomach feels less bloated than it used to. Yay!

I usually wear sweat pants and beat up tops so sometimes it is nice to put on something a little cuter than that. I decided to try on a patriotic tank top that I planned on wearing in the summer. Not too sure if I like it yet though!

I also made a really easy crockpot meal. You just put a pound of Polish sausage, sliced onions, sliced peppers, seasoning and some crushed tomatoes into a crockpot. Let it cook on high for three hours and you have got yourself a yummy low carb meal!

Ok, maybe the picture is bad but just trust me on the yumminess.
