I love skincare. I find it so fun to read about all the research and different products that are out there.

A while ago, I came across a website for a company called, Wholesale Natural Body Care. They have so many skincare and haircare products and they regularly add to their selection. I was in heaven looking at the site and I still am some days!

The Perfection Super Serum is one of their products that caught my eye due to the ingredients and description. I ended up buying it and using it for four months. If you are interested in knowing how it worked for me, read on for my review.

About the company

Wholesale Natural Body Care is a black-owned company that provides many skincare and haircare products for people who want to start their own lines. The site provides extensive steps, tips and instructions on how to do so and is a great place to get one’s business going.

The products are largely natural and most of them do not have fragrances. This is so that people can add any ingredients they want to them. They can also just use them as is in their product lines.

You don’t have to be starting a skincare and/or haircare business to buy the products- they are for anybody. While large amounts of the products are offered there are also smaller amounts that one can buy for their own personal use.

Finding products can be a bit overwhelming due to the sheer number that company has. Luckily, they have a “collections” page that has the different categories that their products fall under. There are shampoos, conditioners, cleansers, hair gels, face creams, shaving creams, serums, lotions, oils, body washes, face masks, scrubs, hair sprays and bar soaps.

About the serum

The Perfection Super Serum is a product that can be found under the “anti-aging” category in the “shop it all” section of the Wholesale Natural Body Care site. It is aimed at being used to combat signs of aging (hence the category) through it’s star ingredient- DMAE.

DMAE is the easy way of saying the compound’s real name which is, dimethylaminoethanol. It is something that is produced in the body and can be found in fish. There has shown to be some antioxidant effects that may be able to firm, tighten and improve the texture of one’s skin. It may also fade lines and wrinkles.

Some other notable actives in the serum are as follows:

• Hyaluronic acid- This is found in a lot of cosmetic products because of its ability to provide moisturization to the hair and skin.
• CoQ10- This is an antioxidant that is shown to have some anti-aging effects for the skin and positive health effects on the body when taken orally.
• Alpha lipoic acid- This is an antioxidant found in the body and some foods. It may have some anti-aging effects when applied to the skin and positive health effects on the body when taken orally.

This serum has a creamy consistency and is white in color. It is also fragrance-free.

The sizing offerings are 1 oz. sample ($9.00), 1 pound ($41.00), 32 ounces and 1 gallon. It states that the serum should be in a bottle with a pump dispenser.

My review

I wanted to get the Perfection Super Serum due to it having DMAE in it. A couple of years ago, I had learned about how the compound can have positive effects to one’s skin when put in cosmetics. I even did a blog post about it and included a DIY skin cream recipe that I was planning on using.

Needless to say, I was overjoyed to find the serum as it had other goodies in it besides the DMAE. Another great thing about it is the fact that it is fragrance free which is very important.

My hope was that it would positively change the texture of my skin and reduce some fine lines (on my forehead and under my eyes).

When I got it in the mail, I was more than eager to start using it. I decided that it would be my morning treatment as I didn’t have a consistent product that I was using (besides sunscreen). Unfortunately, my skin is really bad so I do need multiple products every day so that it doesn’t get even worse.

The next morning after receiving it in the mail- I gave it go. I should have done a patch test for 24 hours, but I felt like risking it. My eagerness got the better of me!

I loved the texture of the serum and found it very moisturizing. It was very easy to spread on my face and neck.

I didn’t have any bad reactions after the first application so I continued to use it. For around three weeks, I applied it only in the mornings. Then I had the idea that using it at night might give me faster results. So, I began to mix it with my 1% retinol.

I used the serum every day for four months. Unfortunately, I did not get any results- good or bad. Absolutely nothing was different about my skin. This was pretty disappointing to me. Because of that, I will not be purchasing the product again.

I don’t hate it though! It didn’t give me a horrible purge or anything like that. I also think that it might work for other people- my skin is just really stubborn.

I give it a rating of 3/5.

Pros and cons

While this product didn’t work for me, I do still think it has some pros and cons that are worth mentioning for people who are interested in trying it out. Here they are:

Pros-

• Fragrance free
• Sample size comes in a nice bottle with a pump dispenser
• Reasonably priced
• You can add to it or add it to something.
• The company is great!

Cons-

• It may not be a miracle worker for your skin
• It may break you out if you are sensitive to any of it’s ingredients

Alternative products

There are some other products that have DMAE in it if you want to look at other options. Here are a few of them:

• Swanson DMAE Serum– This serum has even more goodies in it than the Perfection Serum. It is also fragrance-free.
• Reviva Labs 5% DMAE Serum– This serum has a high percentage of DMAE and non of the other extra stuff that the Perfection Super Serum has. The DMAE is the only active compound in it. It is a bit more expensive but it might have a higher chance of working. There are no fragrances added.
• DERMA-E Ultra Life Firming DMAE Moisturizer– This is not a serum but it had to be put on here! The product has some goodies in it (copper peptides and resveratrol) along with the DMAE. It also has wonderful reviews. There are no fragrances added.

In conclusion

Even though I didn’t see any results from the Perfection Super Serum- I still highly recommend it. The price is pretty good and it just might work for someone else.

I love that the Wholesale Natural Body Care company is black-owned and I will continue to purchase from them if I find other products I want to try.
